Futures CFDs · Market perspective

Understand the market.
Read the contract.

Futures can reference indices, energy and metals. A CFD follows price movements under your broker’s terms; it does not give you ownership of the underlying asset.

Economic releases, inventories and interest-rate expectations can affect different futures markets.

02

Common questions

Your futures questions, answered.

What is a Futures CFD?
A contract for difference linked to a futures market lets you take a view on price movements without owning the underlying asset. Your trading agreement and instrument specification define how the CFD works.
Are the prices on this page live?
No. The dashboard uses EIA’s historical NYMEX futures archive, ending on 5 April 2024. Each reference shows its observation date. Use your trading platform for current executable prices.
What does Contract 1 mean?
In EIA’s series, Contract 1 is the futures contract with the nearest delivery date. The referenced month changes as contracts expire, so a chart can contain roll-related price changes. It is not the history of one fixed-expiry contract.
What happens when a futures CFD expires?
Your broker’s rules determine whether the position closes, settles or rolls into a later contract. Check the last trading date, any adjustment and any charges in your instrument specification.
Which futures CFDs can I trade?
Availability depends on your account, platform and location. The historical energy series and the index and metals artwork on this page are market examples, not a confirmed product list. Ask our team about available contracts ↗
How do I check margin and risk?
Check the margin requirement and contract size for the exact symbol in your platform. Leverage magnifies gains and losses. The value example on this page does not calculate margin or profit. Read the risk management FAQs ↗
